There are plenty of scholarships out there that are aimed at the “best” athletes, but the Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Program is looking for a few good men and women whose sports experiences have allowed them to become leaders and create social change within their communities.
In its third year, the Foot Locker foundation is once again awarding 20 college scholarships—totaling $400,000—to 20 student athletes that demonstrate commitment to both community and academic excellence. Are you a student athlete that fits the bill?
The scholarship is open to students who are headed off to college in the fall of 2014, participate in a sports-related activity, and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Participants will be required to submit two essays and one recommendation. All applications will be reviewed by a panel of scholarship experts. Students can apply online or be nominated by teachers, coaches, mentors, family, and friends by visiting www.dosomething.org/footlocker. Applications close December 19, 2013 at 5 p.m. (EST).
This is a scholarship for the well-rounded athlete that flexes his or her heart—and their muscles, both brains and otherwise.
