During freshman orientation in the summer of 2012, the University of Pittsburgh did something very unique to get students acclimated: The institution had them set a world record.
In honor of Gene Kelly’s 100th birthday (Kelly being a Pitt alum), the University gathered together the class of 2016 and had them dance with umbrellas to set a Guinness World Record, a pseudo homage to Singin’ in the Rain. In the end, more than 3,000 students came out to support the event, as depicted in this user-submitted video captured on a cell phone.
What kind of orientation events did your college or university have you participate in? Was it anything as unique as this?
