Who won the Facebook scholarship in March? It’s Bonnet Ralph Leonard, a sophomore chemistry major at Miami Dade College. Learn more about the winner here in our Q&A with the scholarship recipient.
How and why did you choose the college you are attending?
I chose Miami Dade College because it was close to my house. Also, it is one of the best colleges in the country.
Does the college experience remain true to what you expected?
I can say I am totally satisfied with the experience of my college years because you become on top of everything. You have to learn on your own and become more responsible.
What advice would you recommend to college-bound students?
Do not be afraid to look for aid if you need it. Because the first year of college is often stressful, try to establish a relationship with teachers—try to be on top of everything.
What do you like most about college? Least?
What I like most about college is participating in orientations, where you have the chance to meet new teachers from different schools that permits you to talk about your major and know options available to you. The only thing I do not really like about college is just like all the exams come in the same week. It is a little bit difficult when four exams are in one week.
What are your plans for after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to apply to different universities to study pharmacy, but I am still undecided because I really enjoy chemistry.
