On Fox’s cult hit “Arrested Development,” Maeby Fünke attended Boston Sunshine Academy, a school that was nontraditional when it came to grades (“I know you got a crocodile in spelling, but this has gone too far”).
While Alverno College may not give students a jack-in-the-box in English, it does have an unorthodox approach to assessing the progress of students’ learning. Instead of GPAs, the school offers a narrative transcript.
Located in Milwaukee, Wis., Alverno College is a women’s college, so men need not apply. It also has eight core abilities as the foundation of its curriculum. These abilities include communication, analysis, problem solving, valuing, social interaction, developing a global perspective, effective citizenship, and aesthetic engagement.
If you’re sick and tired of A’s, B’s, C’s, and *gulp* D’s (and you’re a lady), you may want to read more Alverno reviews here and weigh whether a grade-less school is right for you.
