Are you a student thinking about the college admissions process? Or are you the parent of a high school student? This year, millions of high school students and their parents will begin the college-bound journey as they try to negotiate the often confusing and frustrating world of college admissions. That is what inspired me to write the parent survival guide College Bound and Gagged: How To Help Your Kid Get Into A Great College without Losing Your Savings, Your Relationship, or Your Mind.
As a parent, clinical psychologist, comic, professor, and former admissions committee member who has listened to the stories and watched the anxiety of families across the country, it’s clear parents want strategy, guidance, pep talks, and laughs to help them point their kids in the right direction. This month, I joined forces with Lian Dolan, a veteran broadcaster (Satellite Sisters, Chaos Chronicles), producer, Oprah.com parent expert, and mom of a high school senior to launch The College-Bound Chronicles.
The College-Bound Chronicles is a free iTunes’ podcast that chronicles the next year of Lian’s life as the mom of a college-bound teen. I’m guiding her through the process, answering questions, tackling problems, talking strategy, and providing resources during this high-stakes year.
Topics include:
How to Begin The College Search
Surviving The College Tour
Application Do’s and Don’ts
How to Manage the Other Parents
Standardized Testing Strategy
Admissions Office Etiquette
and more….

The podcast can be downloaded free from iTunes or you can listen directly here.
Follow The College-Bound Chronicles on Facebook and weigh in on our discussions or ask your questions for future episodes. If you’re a parent navigating the college-bound journey, this podcast will take you from start to finish. If you’re a teen with parents who might be a little clueless or annoying, send them our way. We’re in this together, trying to keep calm, carry on, and get you into college.
Best wishes,
