Do you ever wonder who actually wins the College Prowler scholarships? Well, we can tell you. It’s people like Leslie Smith, an 18-year-old freshman from Valdosta State University, who won the $500 Facebook Scholarship in July!
Major: Percussion music education
How he knew Valdosta State was the right fit: I automatically knew I wanted to go to VSU when some of my friends, who also attend VSU, told me about all the different music groups that they have including jazz band, marching band, steel drum ensemble, percussion ensemble, the list goes on.
Surprises about college: There really isn’t anything I dislike about college so far.
Thing he loves most about college: My schedule. I don’t have to get out of bed until noon, and I’m done with everything by 6 p.m.
By 2016. . . I plan on getting a job teaching music, whether it be at an elementary, middle, or high school level.
My advice for college-bound students: Find a school that has something you love to do.
