Meet our August Facebook Scholarship Winner!

Who won the August Facebook Scholarship? It’s Bryant King, a senior in high school from Illinois.

Prospective major/graduation date: Double major in business management and film studies/2017

Something people might be surprised to know about you: I listen to all kinds of music. Music has been a pretty big part of my life, and I’ve been in band for six years. I’ll listen to anything once, and I have a very eclectic taste. The only thing I don’t really care for is country music—something about it just doesn’t appeal to me.

What are your plans for after graduation? After I graduate from high school in the spring, I plan on attending college in the fall of 2013. As for which college, I haven’t completely decided yet, but I do have a definite list of schools that I’m going to apply to.

How will you be deciding on a college? To come up with the list of colleges that I have now, I looked at schools that have the majors I want to pursue and that take the ACT because that’s the only standardized test that I took. As of right now, there are eight colleges on my list, and depending on where I get in, I’ll make a decision. But, from the standpoint of living where I do now, on the North Shore of Chicago, the schools I like in California have a definite advantage.

What are your biggest worries about going to college? My biggest worry is staying on top of the workload. I have a tendency to procrastinate, and that can impact the quality of the work that I put out. I am working on breaking that bad habit now, though.

What are you most excited about? I’m excited to meet new people and experience life on my own.

Good luck, Bryant! We look forward to finding out what college you choose!
