It’s almost interning season, which means that offices across the country will welcome young, friendly faces to their company’s quarters. And some of these faces might turn out to be big celebrities or cultural influences someday.
Here is a look at some famous former interns:
- John Krasinski, aka Jim Halpert on “The Office,” was a script intern for “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” in 2000.
- Fellow “Office” cast member Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor) was also an intern for Conan O’Brien.
- Mr. O’Brien himself was a congressional intern for Barney Frank, as he tells James Lipton in this clip from “Inside the Actors Studio”:
- Oprah Winfrey was an intern for a Nashville TV station before she was the “Queen of all Media.”
- Two-time Academy Award-winning actress Jodie Foster interned at Esquire Magazine. In fact, in December 1982, Foster published the piece, “Why me?” in Esquire, which was about John Hinkley and the Ronald Reagan assassination attempt.
- Brian Williams was an intern for the Jimmy Carter administration before finding a career in TV news.
So see—everyone’s gotta start somewhere!
